Waimea Shorebreak Bodyboard Wipeout

This is Waimea shore break, where 20-foot waves that break on the more famous point wrap into the bay to explode on shallow sandbars as hellish 12-foot tubes.

Only a few extreme bodyboarders challenge it, kicking their sponge-soft boards over the ledge for a thrilling plunge into thin air and a brief tube ride.

And a brutal beating. This unknown rider challenges the beast. The infamous Waimea Shorebreak takes one more…

I am in West Africa, and there we hope to get a surf report before we cross town to get to the beach break at the right time. Unfortunately, here in Africa, a webcam is hard to find and very expensive. In addition, the internet speed is too slow to have a good video feed. So, for me and my friends, the problem was how can we afford a good surf report. That’s when we thought of creating Laplaj.Com. Hence on this site, you can upload photos and text reports directly from a cell phone, assuming the phone has a camera and can send emails. A friend of mine who owns a surf shop near the beach takes a couple of photos every morning and adds a few comments. That way, he keeps us up to date on the local surf… Pretty cool hein! Take advantage of it, the tool is open to all the surf addicts like myself.

The boarders name is Tim Jones and I use to surf with him around the Central Coast of NSW,Australia. And Danial Cavanaugh and Wee,obviously you cant surf seeing your trying to take credit for someone elses bravery,he was the only one with big enough balls to go out that day and he did it over and over again getting a couple of the most insane shorie barrels I have seen to this day,Danial and Wee go back to the kiddies pool boys.Floggers lol.

Mate this guy is a nutter full credit. I am a surfer but when the conditions were closing out used to get a lid and surf the shores myself. I have to say even this photo doesnt give him the credit he deserves. When you are out there and paddling in( i paddled in to waves a sixth the size) the barrels seem so much bigger than pictures give credit for. You could drive a bus through that thing thats how big it is

  16. hazz - 7 - May - 2008
