Never mind the Beach Boys, Dick Dale or the sand stomping legends of the surf guitar. Chairman Of The Board is a compilation of rare surf soundtracks all but lost to the genre that created it.

Boasting tracks from some of the most iconic surf films from the 1960’s and 70’s, Surf Soundtracks includes many of the ‘golden era’ surfing moments from Crystal Voyager, The Endless Summer, Innermost Limits Of Pure Fun, Morning Of The Earth, Evolution & Super Session. Surfing is full of ‘golden eras’ and the one between 1964 - 1974 was a time when film directors immersed in the surfing culture, commissioned original music for their cinematic creations.

From 60s beats to funky stoner rock, a psychedelic pulse breathed energy into a giant screen sized tube ride and surfers had a soundtrack that beautifully reflected the barefoot roots of their lifestyle.

Over 30 years has passed since this golden era. Unfortunately many of these surf soundtracks have fallen between the gaps of both psychedelia and the sport itself and have gone unnoticed until now.
Compiled by Rowan Chernin, a founding editor of Loaded, he was the magazine’s Music and Clubs Editor during the hedonistic days of 90’s Brit Pop and superclub culture. Chairman Of The Board brings these gems to the surface once more.
