Bodysurfing in Indonesia Waves
Bodysurfing is the art and sport of riding a wave without the assistance of any buoyant device such as a surfboard or bodyboard.
Belinda Baggs, born in Australia, started surfing at 14, and in 2000 won a national title as the 2000 Australian Professional Longboard Circuit Champion and the same year she placed third in the Women’s World Longboard Championships in Costa Rica. An epicurean moment of exquisite aquatic minimalism in Indo’s throes.

I grew up in Cottesloe W.A. during the war years and all we kids bodysurfed for eight months of the year at old Cott or Swanbourne beaches. It was in fact one of the few sports we could indulge in other than Aussie football, for lack of the sort of equipment available to kids these days, due to the war effort.
I have since bodysurfed all round Oz, in Bali, on the east coast of Malaysia, and in Northern Spain, the latter in 1965 at La Concha beach in San Sebastian. This effort caused such a stir back then that they sent out a surf rescue boat to bring me in while I was waiting for my first wave, but I eluded that by catching a nice two meter break just as it reached me.
Happy surfing

Bodysurfers don´t ride on the wave… We ride IN the wave…
I wish we had bodysurfing girls like that on my beach!
Greetings from “The Sardinero beach”, Santander (North of Spain)
This is the right position for the surfer to take advantage of the wave. By laying slightly back she is curving slightly towards the lip of the wave enabling the best possible speed and the best position for doing a reverse spiral with the option of tucking out the bottom or if the shoulder stays, doing more of the same. Very good reading of the wave.
