Super Slow Motion Surf Video in South Pacific

If you think you’ve seen it all, here comes something that tells you’re wrong. These images from the Australian shaper and free-surfer Dylan Longbottom are part of a series shot for BBC TV in super slow motion and high definition at 20 times the speed of a normal HD camera (here’s a photo of the camera used, a TyphoonHD4).

The action took place in the South Pacific, in the islands of Micronesia, , where 12 foot monster barrel were breaking into the world class reef break.

Dylan Longbottom
is known for pushing the traditional limits of aerial surfing and big wave surfing. He already won the monster tube award in the 2005 Billabong XXL awards. These days Dylan is developing his board shaping business (Dylan Longbottom designs) and continues to track down and surf the biggest and deadliest waves in the world.

Goons of Doom - The Story Of Dead Barbie and Ghost

goons of doomFronted by Australian pro-surfer, musician, artist and film-maker Ozzie Wright a.k.a. “Fang Fite Ozzie Wrong, The Wizard of Death”, the Goons of Doom are a group of friends that formed their band in 2003 while playing the “part” of a band the indie cult surf movie classic Doped Youth. Within five days of buying instruments and practicing the band was taking from the screen to the street playing their first party.

The new album from the Goons Of Doom, The Story Of Dead Barbie And Ghost, was recorded in just 4 days and it features a generous 16 tracks each as varied as their band members, with songs ranging from hard thrashing blood soaked anthems to lonely mellow beatnik poems to uplifting neon folk to totally homoerotic horror pop.

goons of doom logoThese guys seem to be having quite a bit of fun with their songs, Titles sucha as “Bikey Zombie”, ”VD”, “It Stinks” and “The Ass Kisses the face” will tell you what kind of tunes you’re gonna get. That’s right, motorcycles, zombies, cannibalism and killing Hello Kitty. This is the essence of the Goons; it’s OK to be dark and a bit twisted, provided you’re having fun with it. If you like bad horror flicks and good punk rock with no pretension, check out The Story Of Dead Barbie and Ghost.

While most young surfers are focused on competing and qualifying for the WCT, it is a refreshing change of pace to see someone stoked to go out and explore the unknown, traveling off the beaten path and forging their own trail.

By the way, found a real good site if you’re looking to buy football tickets. You can easily find New York Jets Tickets, Lincoln Financial Field Tickets and Bryce Jordan Center Tickets, amongst others.
